We live in Jakarta, or the Big Durian as it is sometimes called, after the infamous fruit that people often love or hate. As its nickname suggests, life in Jakarta can be a tale of two cities. It’s mysterious and exotic, full of dynamism, excitement and opportunity, but is also overcrowded and heavily polluted. We’ve found that mindset and an active pursuit of balance are key for us to thrive in this city of extremes.
This has become even more paramount during the pandemic, which we have embraced as an opportunity to explore and deepen our wellness habits as a family. Balancing everyone’s physical, mental and emotional needs in one space is challenging, and has required a lot of imagination, flexibility, discipline and patience. Our home routine embodies our move, nourish, express philosophy to offset the imbalance of increased screen time and decreased socialisation from online learning. We are dedicated to daily practices that help cultivate awareness, connection and love for ourselves and others, and are very mindful about what we ingest not just into our bodies, but also our minds and hearts.
